The Cliff Railways are an enjoyable and unique way of seeing Hastings. They are not only the United Kingdom's steepest funicular railway is not only a structure of national importance but also a source of immense local pride.
st Hill Cliff Railway provides access to Hastings Country Park via the East Hill, which overlooks the Old Town and Rock-a-Nore, an area to the east of Hastings. The line provides views over the Stade, home to the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe.
The 267ft (81m) lift, the steepest working funicular railway in the UK, was built in 1902 and officially opened in April 1903.
